The new open air Rocket Boat tour of San Francisco Bay allows you to see the sights and have some excitement at the same time. The boat accelerates to 44 knots, rock music blasting from the speakers and then makes hair-raising sharp turns, leaving your stomach behind and causing all the passengers to scream. Choose a clear day if you can and sit in the middle to avoid getting drenched.
The boat scoots under Golden Gate Bridge and there are fine views of the cityscape, Alcatraz and the San Francisco Giants Stadium, where you might be lucky to catch a game in progress.
The 30 minute trip leaves from pier 39, gate 4 and runs from 11am to 6pm. Full price tickets are $26 but 2 for 1 and other offers are regularly available.
